‘Desert Blossom’ - Crochet Afghan- designed by Brianna Steele

So I have been digging the desert vibes and color palettes over the past year, and I have been working on designing and creating home decor items that are just right for our new apartment in Colorado. I was pondering on the ‘black hole’ named Pinterest and I was looking for yarn dyeing inspiration, when I happen to stumble on the beautiful pallets that are this in post. I was sold and had to make something that fully embodied all vibes that these colors were giving off. And away I went to Hobby Lobby and very particularly, in the dim florescent light, picked out and bought the colors I was looking for. When I got home and took them out of the bag into natural sunlight, it was one of the prettiest color ways I have put together in a long time! I Started on the design project right then and there, and here we are now, a month later. A fully finished project (pat on my own back, because I am know for not finishing projects), that is boyfriend approved and now we fight over who gets to cuddle in it. At least for a short time before I put it away in the sample bin.

The ‘Desert Blossom’ design/ pattern is not quite ready for purchase yet. I am working on securing pattern testers and wrapping up the draft at the moment. The plan will be to have this of course available on Ravelry, and quite possibly have nicely print copies for sale on my Etsy Shop. At this point in time I do not have ETA, so please stay posted here and on my social media accounts. For those with ‘crafters’ ADD’ and can’t wait to get their hands on my pattern and want to be prepared, here are the supplies that will need to create this beauty:

Hook Size I/ 5.5mm

Worsted Weight Yarn (I used ‘I love This Yarn’ sold by Hobby Lobby- I used this for both the washable and cost effective necessities needed for this project-)

These skeins have 355 yd in each, and used 3 full Ivory skeins and about 2/3 of the skeins of all the other colors. Hopefully this is helpful if you don’t want to use this brand of yarn.

Colors and Number of Skeins:

3 to 4 - Ivory ( this all depends on the artist, I had about 3 yards left over from my 3rd and final skein)

1 each of - Glacier, Sungold, Light Peach, Light Taupe, Rosy Cheeks, Desert Glaze, and Burnt Pumpkin

And of course a darning needle and scissors

My goal is to have this fully available in June 2020, so check back soon for details.
