The Fawna Basket

Why hello hello everyone! Popping on here real fast to share a free crochet pattern with y’all. Short story time - So I wanted to give my plant pots a little outfit to wear because: 1. How cute! And 2. I don’t like the pots that some of them are in, so why not dress them up a little. This chunky and quick-make basket is also perfect for all sorts of storage in the home, and is easily customizable.

So let’s get into it!

Supplies

-6mm crochet hook

-1 skein of Lion Brand/ Two Of Wands, Hue + Me chunky weight yarn (137 yd)

-large eye darning needle

-scissors

Terms

-sc: single crochet

-dc: double crochet

-ch: chain

-sk: skip

-sl st: slip stitch

-st(s): stitch(es)

-BLO: Back Loop Only

-sp: space

Instructions

Rnd 1: Start of by making a Magic Ring, ch 1, and make 6 sc into the ring. Sl st into the top of the beginning sc to join the round. (6 sts)

Rnd 2: ch 1, make 2 sc into the same st. Then make 2 sc in each of the following 5 sts. Sl st into the top of the beginning sc to join the round. (12 sts)

Rnd 3: ch 1, make 1 sc into the same st. (Make 2 sc in the following st, then make 1 sc in the next st) 5 times. Then, make 2 sc in the final st of the round. Sl st into the top of the beginning sc to join the round. (18 sts)

Rnd 4: ch 1, make 1 sc into the same st. (Make 2 sc in the following st, then make 1 sc in the following 2 sts) 5 times. Then, make 2 sc in the final st of the round. Sl st into the top of the beginning sc to join the round. (24 sts)

Rnd 5: ch 1, make 1 sc into the same st. (Make 2 sc in the following st, then make 1 sc in the following 3 sts) 5 times. Then, make 2 sc in the final st of the round. Sl st into the top of the beginning sc to join the round. (30 sts)

Rnd 6: ch 1, make 1 sc into the same st. (Make 2 sc in the following st, then make 1 sc in the following 4 sts) 5 times. Then, make 2 sc in the final st of the round. Sl st into the top of the beginning sc to join the round. (36 sts)

Rnd 7: ch 1, make 1 sc into the same st. (Make 2 sc in the following st, then make 1 sc in the following 5 sts) 5 times. Then, make 2 sc in the final st of the round. Sl st into the top of the beginning sc to join the round. (42 sts)

Rnd 8: ch 1, make 1 sc into the same st. (Make 2 sc in the following st, then make 1 sc in the following 6 sts) 5 times. Then, make 2 sc in the final st of the round. Sl st into the top of the beginning sc to join the round. (48 sts)

Round 9: ch 1, make 1 sc in the same st BLO, then make 1 sc in each around BLO to the end. Sl st into top of beginning sc to join the round. (48 sts)

Round 10: ch 2, make 1 dc in same stitch, then make 1 sc each st around. Sl st into top of beginning dc to join the round. (48 sts)d

Repeat Rounds 9 and 10 5 times, then Round 9 once more.

Handles

Round 1: ch 1, make 1 sc in same st, then make 1 sc in the following 7 sts, ch 10, sk 10, make 1 sc in the following 16 sts, ch 10, sk 10, make 1 sc in the final 8 sts of the round. Sl st into top of beginning sc to join the round. (48 sts)

Round 2: ch 1, make sc in the following 7 sts, make 10 sc in the handle loop, make 1 sc in the following 16 sts, make 10 sc in the handle loop, then make 1 sc in the final 8 sts of the round. Sl st into top of beginning sc to join the round. (48 sts)

Round 3: ch 1, make 1 sc in the same st, then make 1 sc in each st around. Sl st into top of beginning sc to join the round. (48 sts)

Tie off and hide yarn ends.
